2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account (via our authentication provider, Clerk), we collect your email address, username, profile photo, and selected role (Producer or Listener).

Profile Information

You may optionally provide additional profile details including a bio and genre preferences.

Beat Content

If you are a producer, you may upload audio files (MP3, WAV, FLAC) or provide YouTube links along with metadata such as title, genre, sub-genre, BPM, key, tags, description, and purchase links.

Usage Data

We collect information about how you interact with the platform, including votes on beat comparisons, favourited beats, purchase link clicks, and participation in battles and tournaments.

Payment Information

If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment processing is handled by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer and subscription identifiers but never have access to your full credit card number or payment method details.

AI-Processed Data

Beat metadata (title, genre, tags, description) may be sent to Anthropic's AI service for automated genre suggestions, tag generation, and description creation. Audio files are not sent to AI services.

3. How We Use Your Information

• Operate and maintain the BeatCipher platform
• Match beats for head-to-head comparisons and tournaments
• Generate leaderboards, charts, and analytics for producers
• Process subscription payments and manage your account
• Send transactional emails (welcome messages, payment receipts, milestone notifications)
• Provide AI-powered beat analysis features (genre suggestions, tag generation)
• Improve and develop new features for the platform

4. Third-Party Services & Data Sharing

We share your information with the following third-party services solely to operate the platform:

• Clerk — Authentication and user management
• Stripe — Payment processing for subscriptions
• Supabase — Database hosting (PostgreSQL)
• Cloudflare R2 — Audio file storage
• Resend — Email delivery
• Anthropic — AI-powered beat metadata analysis

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You can pause, archive, or delete your beats at any time through your dashboard. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Rectification — Request correction of inaccurate data
• Deletion — Request deletion of your personal data
• Portability — Request your data in a portable format
